I made applesauce this afternoon.
There's something so satisfying about plucking apples from the tree out back and then prepping them to be cooked in the big pot on the stove. I took the boys' notes from the last go-round and pureed the potato masher'd mush in the blender before pouring the final product into jars and carefully lowering them into the canner. Then it was boil, boil, boil for the prescribed time. And as of now, the jars are resting quietly on the counter in an out of the way place.
It is such a blessing to feel like I'm providing something fresh and healthy (because there's nothing but apple and water in those jars!) for my family, and I am grateful.
