The Phillies played their final two games this morning as Pleasanton's representatives in a single-elimination tournament of champions. They did just fine all in all: our guys won the first game in dramatic style over Bollinger Canyon, but dropped the second to Danville. And that was that.
Tomorrow we'll put a bow on their truly excellent season with the team party, so I'll save my real reflections on the experience for then.
But for now, I'll just say that I continue to be grateful for the many lessons my boys have learned courtesy of baseball -- lessons about patience, perseverance, kindness, generosity, flexibility, acceptance, and determination. They're better people because of it, and that truth fills me with gratitude.
